The world's tiniest penguin species has welcomed a delightful new arrival: Henry, a fairy penguin chick who hatched at SEA LIFE Weymouth in Dorset, UK. Also known as little blue penguins for their striking blue-grey feathers, fairy penguins are the tiniest of all penguin kinds.
Henry emerged from his egg on January 30, 2026, to parents Tyrion and Dandy, who are first-time breeders. This hatching caps six years of dedicated efforts to establish and sustain Europe's only fairy penguin breeding colony.
Currently receiving round-the-clock hand-rearing, Henry boasts a hearty appetite, eagerly devouring fish fillets right from the start. He's got a cuddly toy penguin to keep him company until he's ready to join the colony! 🧸
